Turning in Handwritten Work to Google Classroom
Some assignments will need to be completed on paper and photographed/scanned and uploaded to Google Classroom to be reviewed by your child’s teacher. Our Upper School teachers have created a video tutorial for families on how to turn in handwritten work using a mobile device. Great Hearts’ Family Guide to Google Classroom contains step-by-step instructions on how to do this as well. Lower School Zoom Etiquette
We recognize that supporting young children in using technology can present challenges. To help your family navigate those challenges and make our synchronous Zoom sessions as smooth as possible, we have compiled some tips and guidelines for Zoom that we will ask you to help your scholar(s) observe.
Lower School Distance Learning Schedules
Distance Learning instruction will occur both synchronously and asynchronously. The entire school is invited to begin each day together at 7:45am by joining us for the pledges over Facebook Live. Beginning at 9:15am each day, all students are asked to log on to a Zoom meeting with their teachers and classmates to participate in synchronous learning activities. At 3:30pm, there will be an opportunity for us to end our school days together as well, as we join Mrs. Pantin on Facebook Live for a school-wide Read Aloud. Below you will find daily schedules indicating the times we recommend your students participate in their asynchronous video lessons. Please note that the time it will take for students to complete their asynchronous lessons will vary and that the video component of lessons will not always last for the entire time indicated on the schedules. Further, we recognize that each family is facing a unique situation, so with the exception of the daily synchronous Zoom in which students are asked to log on at the specified time daily, parents may adjust the times of the day devoted to particular subjects to meet the needs of their family and their child(ren).
Upper School Distance Learning Schedules
Upper School students will receive their class schedules for the 2020-21 school year with their textbooks on August 13 & 14. Distance learning schedules will line up with on-campus schedules for an easy transition between distance and on-campus leaning at any time. Lower School Distance Learning Plan
In order to provide a more comprehensive overview of the Distance Learning plan we will be implementing at the Great Hearts Irving Lower School campus this Fall, we have created this document outlining many of the features of our plan in detail.
