In any primary educational environment, the three “R’s”  of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic represent the most fundamental and crucial elements of the curriculum and instruction. As a result, at Great Hearts Irving, Spalding Phonics and Spelling, aimed at teaching students to read and write, and Singapore Math, aimed at teaching students primary mathematics, could be said to be our two most important curricular programs.

Ordinarily we would invite parents into our building for Singapore and Spalding Night, an event giving parents a basic overview and explanation of these two programs and guidance on how to support their children in finding success with them at home. This year we have created three videos to accomplish these same goals, which you can find on the Great Hearts Irving Lower School YouTube Channel, or at the links below:

An Introduction to Singapore Math with Ms. Finn

An Introduction to Spalding in Kindergarten-2nd Grade with Mrs. Pantin

An Introduction to Spalding in 3rd-5th Grade with Ms. Vaughan
