Great Hearts Summer Programs 2023

June 5-16, 2023

Summer Programs consist of Summer Camp for any student currently in Grades K-4th (those entering 1st-5th Grade for the 23-24 school year) and Kinder Readiness for new, incoming Kindergarten students (including those on the Great Hearts waitlist). Whether you register for one or both weeks, it is bound to be an experience to remember!

Registration will be available starting January 18th, 2023.

Summer Camp

Our full-day summer camp supports the Great Hearts mission in an engaging environment focused on inspiring creativity and deepening a sense of wonder through action-packed themes.  Each week incorporates topics including science, math, art, literature, athletic skills, and more. Campers will laugh as they compete in crazy camp games, sing silly campfire songs, enjoy engaging activities, and make new friends. It’s a traditional summer camp experience with a classical twist!

Week 1 (June 5-9) – Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead!: Brace yourself for a week full of hands-on learning and problem-solving activities as we go Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead into summer! Activities will focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and music. Campers will learn songs, science, S.T.E.A.M. style games, and more!

Week 2 (June 12-16) – Wild West: Driven by daring, dangers, and dreams of adventure, many have been drawn to life in the west. Inspired by this spirit of adventure, campers will enjoy activities based on the Wild West’s terrain, traditions, and transportation. Western-themed songs, games, and crazy competitions will set the tone for this wild week of camp!

Kinder Readiness

Grades: For Incoming Kindergarten (and Wait-Listed Kindergarten) Students Only
Students must be at least 4 years old and fully potty-trained.
Unique Weekly Programs: June 5-16, 2023
Space is limited! We highly suggest registering early to reserve your space.

The Kinder Readiness summer program is designed to help students transition to the classroom community with ease. Students will practice fundamental skills, following directions, and learn teacher expectations. They will learn the joy that comes from learning to demonstrate self-control, build confidence through accomplishing new tasks, and start making new friends. Our teachers will model everything they will need to know about what it means to be a Great Hearts Irving Scholar! Students will wear the Great Hearts Irving school uniform as outlined in the Family Handbook and bring a snack.

With a unique curriculum each week, you can register for one or both weeks of Kinder Readiness to help your Kindergarten child prepare for the exciting year ahead!

Q. Do Summer Programs provide lunch and/or snack?

A.

No. We ask that you pack the following for your scholar for Summer Programs:

Summer Camp: One morning snack, one afternoon snack, lunch
Kinder Readiness: One morning snack (We also ask that Kinder Readiness scholars bring a backpack.)

Q. What is the dress code for Summer Programs?

A.

The dress code for Summer Programs are as follows:

SUMMER CAMP:
SHIRTS: students may wear any GHA Summer shirt, GHA spirit shirt, GHA athletic shirt or any SOLID colored shirt.

SHORTS: students may wear plain, logo-free, uniform-style shorts in khaki, black or navy. They may also wear navy or black athletic shorts. All shorts must reach mid-thigh and cannot be form fitting (no bike shorts or gymnastic apparel). Uniform pants are allowed.

FOOTWEAR: students may wear plain, logo-free tennis shoes. Shoes that make noise or shoes that light up are NOT permitted. Open-toed shoes will NOT be permitted.

KINDER READINESS: The Great Hearts Irving uniform as outlined in the Family Handbook. We also ask that Kinder Readiness scholars bring a backpack.

Q. What if my summer plans change? Can I get a refund?

A.

No refunds will be issued after May 1st. Registration fees are not refundable. Any refunds issued before May 1st will have non-refundable registration fees subtracted.
