Financial Assistance

Great Hearts Irving is proud to serve our community in any way we can. While funds are limited, we are committed to providing as much assistance as possible with EduKits (school supplies), uniforms, and Classics to Keep. Families who qualify can also benefit from the federal Free or Reduced Lunch Program (FRL) to provide meals during the school day.

See below for more information about each program.

Financial Assistance for the 2023-2024 School Year

If you would like to apply for financial assistance with EduKits and uniforms, you will need to complete a Preliminary Financial Assistance Eligibility survey by Friday, June 2nd, 2023.

After you complete the survey, we will review your application and contact you with your eligibility determination. Eligibility is based on income levels equivalent to those that qualify families for the federal FRL program. This application only applies to EduKits and uniform vouchers. Applications submitted after June 2nd, 2023 may not be eligible to receive assistance.

Please note, the Preliminary Financial Assistance Eligibility form does not qualify you for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch program. The official 2023-2024 Free and Reduced Lunch application will become available in the summer (usually late-July). To qualify for financial assistance with meals, you will need to complete that form separately when the time comes.

EduKits (School Supplies)

All families who qualified for financial assistance in the preceding school year, as well as those who qualified after completing the Preliminary Financial Assistance form, will have EduKits ordered for their child(ren) free of charge. These will be delivered to the Upper and Lower School campuses. We will reach out to let you know when they have arrived so that you may pick them up prior to the start of school.

Uniforms

Families who qualify for financial assistance are also eligible to receive vouchers (gift certificates) for use in purchasing school uniforms. We will provide $100 in vouchers for each qualifying student. All vouchers are for Dennis Uniforms and are redeemable online or over the phone. Vouchers will be distributed during the summer months for those who qualify, while supplies last.

We also encourage you to take advantage of our PSO’s annual Used Uniform Sale as a low cost option for families. Visit greatheartsirving.org/useduniformsale for details on this year’s sale.

If you have additional questions or concerns regarding uniform vouchers, please reach out to Robert.Tiffin@greatheartsirving.org for the Lower School or Mary.Connor@greatheartsirving.org for the Upper School.

Classics to Keep

We highly encourage all families to purchase their own copies of our Classics to Keep so that our students can build their own library of literary classics and be able to return to the wisdom and joy contained within in years to come. Most can be acquired at low cost from used booksellers.

If this is not possible for your family, we will gladly provide your child with copies of the texts for use during the school year upon request. Please reach out to Robert.Tiffin@greatheartsirving.org for the Lower School or Mary.Connor@greatheartsirving.org for the Upper School for more information.

Financial Assistance for Meals

Families who think they may qualify are encouraged to submit an application for Free or Reduced Meals. You will need your child’s first name and new Student (Customer) ID number. If you do not know your child’s ID number, please email Mary Connor, Director of Campus Operations for the Upper School, or Robert Tiffin, Assistant Headmaster for the Lower School, to receive it.

Please allow 3 to 7 business days to process your online application. Once eligibility is determined, you will receive an official eligibility determination letter via email.

Returning students who qualified for free or reduced lunch this school year will continue to receive those benefits through September 28, 2023. If you think your family might qualify, we strongly encourage you to go ahead and submit an application for this school year. That application will also help us determine your eligibility for financial assistance in other areas as well.

Please note, to continue receiving benefits after September 28th, you will need to fill out an application for the new school year. That application usually becomes available in late-July.
