Financial Assistance for the 2021-2022 School Year

Great Hearts Irving is proud to serve our community in any way we can. While funds are limited, we are committed to providing as much assistance as possible with EduKits (school supplies), uniforms, Classics to Keep, and meals. See below for more information about each program.

Thank you to all those who completed an application for Preliminary Financial Assistance. We will be reaching out in the coming weeks to let you know whether your family is eligible to receive assistance.

EduKits (School Supplies)

All families who qualified for financial assistance in the preceding school year, as well as those who qualified after completing the Preliminary Financial Assistance form, will have EduKits ordered for their child(ren) free of charge. These will be delivered to the Upper and Lower School campuses. We will reach out to let you know when they have arrived so that you may pick them up prior to the start of school.

Uniforms

Families who qualify for financial assistance are also eligible to receive vouchers (gift certificates) for use in purchasing school uniforms. We will provide $100 in vouchers for each qualifying student. All vouchers are for Dennis Uniforms and are redeemable online or over the phone.

Vouchers for Lower School students have arrived and will be available for pickup at the Lower School front desk between 9am and 2pm Tuesday, June 15th through Thursday, June 17th and again from July 12th through August 6th. We will also be holding our annual Used Uniform Sale in mid-July as a low cost option for families. Plans for that event are still being finalized, but do stay tuned for updates.

Classics to Keep

We highly encourage all families to purchase their own copies of our Classics to Keep so that our students can build their own library of literary classics and be able to return to the wisdom and joy contained within in years to come. Most can be acquired at low cost from used booksellers.

If this is not possible for your family, we will gladly provide your child with copies of the texts for use during the school year upon request. Financial Assistance for Meals

Free and reduced breakfast and lunch are available to all those who qualify. Eligibility is determined using the application for Free or Reduced Meals. 

Returning students who qualified for free or reduced meals in the 2020-2021 school year will continue to receive those benefits through September 11, 2021. To continue receiving benefits after that date, families will need to fill out a new application through MyMealTime.com. That application usually becomes available over the summer. We will let you know when it does so that you can complete it at that time.

P-EBT Benefits Information

Enrolled students (up to 21 years of age) in families that temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals for the 2020–2021 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to receive Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). P-EBT benefits can be used to buy food from any retailer that accepts the Lone Star Card.

The application for P-EBT will open June 2, 2021. Go to yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT to apply. The deadline to apply is Aug. 13, 2021.

Who Needs to Apply to Receive Benefits?

A parent/guardian must apply if eligible child is:

  • Enrolled in K-12 and NOT part of a family who received SNAP benefits for at least one month between August 2020 and June 2021.
  • Born on or before Aug. 1, 2014, and is part of a family who received SNAP benefits for the first time during the 2020–2021 school year in May or June 2021.

A parent/guardian does not have to apply if eligible child is:

  • Born on or before Aug. 1, 2014, and is part of a family who received SNAP benefits for at least one month between August 2020 and April 2021.
  • Born after Aug. 1, 2014, and is part of a family who received SNAP benefits for at least one month between October 2020 and June 2021.

An Important Note about When You Apply

Because Great Hearts Irving is a campus within the Great Hearts Texas district, when you complete your application, under “School District County” you will need to select Bexar County (the location of Great Hearts Texas’s corporate office in San Antonio) and then Great Hearts Texas under “School District/Organization.” For “School Campus, please select Great Hearts Irving for your Lower School students and Great Hearts Irving Upper for Upper Schoolers.
