5th Grade Intramurals Program

We are excited to introduce our 5th Grade Intramurals Program! This program is designed to provide scholars with an opportunity to build athletic skills, develop teamwork and sportsmanship, and experience organized competitions in a fun, supportive environment. Intramurals also serve as a great introduction to athletics before entering Upper School.  

Eligibility

All 5th grade scholars are invited to participate. To be eligible, students must:

      • Have a current physical on file with the school before participating in practices or games.
      • Maintain passing grades in all classes (no grade of 60% or below).
      • Submit a signed Intramurals Participation Agreement completed by both the scholar and a parent/guardian.

Season 1 Sport

This year’s first intramural season will feature Boys and Girls Volleyball.

Epic Teams

To build community and encourage teamwork, all participating scholars will be assigned to one of four Epic Teams by Ms. Christensen. These teams will remain together throughout the intramural season and will earn points for participation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition. At the end of the season, one Epic Team will be recognized as the overall champion. 

An epic poem is a long narrative poem that tells the story of a heroic figure or important event. Many epic poems have influenced literature and history for centuries. The names of our Epic Teams come from four of the most well-known epic poems studied in the classical tradition.
