The Texas Legislature convenes every other year, and the 88th Session runs from January through May 2023. During this time, Great Hearts needs parents at each campus to work to advocate for our classical charter schools alongside Texas Public Charter School Association (TPCSA)! See below for the many ways you can stay up-to-date or participate in charter school advocacy during this legislative session.

Stay Up-to-Date

TPCSA is the statewide organization representing Texas charter schools to state leaders, lawmakers, and state agencies.

  • TPCSA has released its list of priority issues to win in Austin this session, from funding to municipal discrimination and more. You can read more about them here.
  • In January, a bill was filed in the State Senate to end municipal discrimination against public charter schools, which are often targeted with additional fees, zoning, and permitting schemes that divert state funding from the classroom.
