Update: Lower School Field Day Rescheduled
Unfortunately, our infamous Texas weather has chosen not to cooperate. Lower School Field Day is officially postponed. The new date will be Friday, April 28th. If you are still able to volunteer on the new date, please let us know by emailing Mrs. Pantin.
The good news is that, due to the additional time, we are able to extend the deadline to purchase a 2023 Field Day shirt! If you missed out before, place your order right away; the window will close Friday, April 14th.

Field Day 2023
At Great Hearts Irving, we believe that a holistic and humane education is one that seeks to cultivate health and strength not only in the mind and heart, but also in the body. This year’s Field Day celebration is scheduled for March 31. Coach Katolik and Coach Estrada have been working hard to organize a day spent outdoors and filled with physical activity, fun games, and the spirit of healthy competition.
Please note: March 31st is an early-release Friday. Lunch and student pick-up will not be affected by Field Day activities.
Update: Our Field Day volunteer sign up is full! Thanks to everyone who is coming to help out. If you are still interested in volunteering, we may have some additional opportunities open up. Just reach out to Mary.Pantin@greatheartsirving.org to let us know and we will be able to follow up.
We need your help! Field Day is an amazing day of fitness fun for our students, and it takes a lot of people to coordinate all the various activities. We encourage you to sign up to help run one of our many Field Day games, help students get to and from the building when they need bathroom breaks, keep our water stations filled, and more.
Please note that, in order to keep our teachers and students as safe as possible, Great Hearts Texas requires all on-campus volunteers to complete a background check prior to volunteering. Field Day volunteers who haven’t already completed a background check this school year must be sure to do so prior to Field Day. Because the $5 fee associated with these checks across all Great Hearts Texas schools represents a considerable expense, our district leaders have asked parents to help by covering the cost themselves.
Volunteers are encouraged to purchase and wear a Field Day shirt to show their Great Hearts Irving spirit alongside our scholars!
Field Day Shirts
Update: Sales for 2023 Lower School Field Day shirts have now closed. A limited supply of extra shirts may be available for $10 cash in the days leading up to Field Day. Reach out to Mary.Pantin@greatheartsirving.org to inquire.
This year’s Field Day t-shirt design features the Greek Titan Atlas! Field Day shirts may be worn on Field Day and on any Spirit Day throughout the school year. All shirts must be ordered by 4pm on Monday, March 13th, so get your family’s shirts before it’s too late!
Shirts will be delivered to your child’s classroom prior to Field Day.
Field Day Attire Guidelines
Due to the athletic nature of Field Day, students will be allowed to wear clothing more appropriate to the day in addition to their Field Day t-shirt. There are some guidelines we will ask you to adhere to in determining what clothing is acceptable to wear to school on March 31st.
Student Lunch on Field Day
While lunch will be available to students who would like to purchase one, we strongly encourage all students to bring a sack lunch on Field Day.
Field Day is a day of fun, but rigorous, physical activity! We will have water stations set up outside, but students should be sure to bring water bottles with them to school so that they have convenient access to water whenever they need it.
Rita’s Italian Ice
In keeping with tradition, Rita’s Italian Ice will again be joining us on Field Day. Students who would like an icy treat should bring $3 cash to school in an envelope clearly labeled with their name on or before March 31st. Your child’s classroom teacher will be able to collect and hold the money until it is needed.
In the event our infamous Texas weather threatens to interfere with the day outdoors, we will communicate at least 24 hours in advance of Field Day about a possible rescheduling.
