Saturday, March 1st, 2025
6th Grade Dance | 5-6:30 pm
7th & 8th Grade Dance | 6:30-8:00 pm
The dance will take place at the Upper School Gym and MPR. Tickets cost $10 and can be bought ahead of time online using a credit card or at the front desk with cash or check (made out to Great Hearts Irving). If paying with cash, please bring exact change as we cannot guarantee to have correct change on hand. While we encourage you to purchase tickets ahead of time, we will accept cash payments at the door.
In addition to purchasing a ticket, all students must submit a signed permission form. The permission form is linked below and printed copies will be distributed to students on Thursday, February 20th.
The Spring Swing is an opportunity for our Middle School students to join with their peers and enjoy an evening together in camaraderie. To that end, we ask that students do not come to the dance as dates, and no guests are permitted.
Spring Swing Dress Code
DETAILS: Students should wear semi-formal (Sunday best) attire in keeping with the guidelines below. Students not dressed appropriately will not be permitted to attend the dance. If you are unsure whether the attire you have chosen is appropriate, please reach out to middle school administration ahead of time so as to avoid being turned away on the night of the event (laura.moss@greatheartstxschools.org or jack.weyrens@greatheartstxschools.org).
Shoes: In order to preserve our gym floor, we ask all students to wear socks or soft-soled shoes on the dance floor. No heels, black rubber, or hard-soled shoes will be permitted. Nice tennis shoes, converse, and boat shoes will be allowed. Students in unapproved footwear will be asked to wear socks.
Gentlemen: dress slacks (no jeans or patched pocket pants), a dress shirt, tie, and dress socks. Hair should be trimmed, combed and styled appropriately for the occasion. Should any male scholar need assistance tying his tie, he can enlist the aid of a male faculty member.
Ladies: modest-length skirts or dresses (no shorter than two to four inches above the knee). Tops should have sleeves/straps (long, short, tank, spaghetti at least 1” thick, cap, one shoulder), modest necklines and not bare the midriff (front or back). Cardigans are recommended if you aren’t sure whether your dress meets the guidelines. Dresses should not be body contouring (“body con”).
