Grandparents’ Day!

Each year it is our privilege to invite our Great-Hearted grandmas and grandpas to school on Grandparents’ Day. This year, due to the size our community has grown to, we are inviting grandparents of 3rd – 5th Grade on Thursday, March 12, 2026, and grandparents of Kinder to 2nd Grade on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Grandparents of Great Hearts Irving Lower School scholars are invited to come to school during the school day from 8:15-10am. After being signed in, grandparents will be escorted to The Forum for a brief presentation by Headmaster Charles Brogan and Community Engagement Director Keo Strull. Students will complete a small activity with their grandparent in the Forum before leading their grandparent back to the classroom to observe a short lesson.

Schedule

Space in our hallways and classrooms is limited, so we will only be able to accommodate grandparents who come within the 8:15 to 10am window. Grandparents who would like to visit students in multiple grade levels will be able to spend time with the entire 3-5 or K-2 group in the forum but will have to pick which classroom to go to. We know this presents an inconvenience but are grateful for your understanding as we attempt to open our school building to as many grandparents as possible. We will not be able to accommodate grandparents who come outside the specified times or any parents. We held a parent open house the week of February 10th – 12th

Signing In

For the safety of our teachers and students, all visitors to our school building are required to check in. Please be sure to complete the RSVP registration form completely so that we can have your name badge ready for you when you arrive. Grandparents without a valid photo ID will not be able to attend Grandparents’ Day.

RSVP

To help us get an idea of how many of our much-loved grandparents we can expect to welcome to school, we ask that those who plan to attend kindly take a moment to RSVP using this form.

Grandparent Support

We hold Grandparents‘ Day because our honored grandparents are also an important part of our school community. We encourage our grandparents to commit to the continued success of Great Hearts Irving Lower School by contributing financially as well. We can always accept checks or cash, or you can contribute online.
