All-New Grandparents’ Day!

Each year it is our privilege to invite our Great-Hearted grandmas and grandpas to school on Grandparents’ Day. This year, we are taking a new approach to our annual Grandparents’ Day celebration! First, Grandparents’ Day will be part of our new Community Commitment Week. Visit greatheartsirving.org/communitycommitmentweek for full details on this weeklong celebration of our special school community.

We are excited that we have also found a way to open Grandparents’ Day to more attendees. On Thursday, March 7, 2024, grandparents of Great Hearts Irving Lower School scholars are invited to come to school during the school day at specific times for each grade level. Please see below for the Grandparents’ Day schedule. After being signed in, grandparents will be escorted to their grandchild’s classroom where they will be able to see their grandchild’s desk and cubby and teachers and students will have activities planned in their honor.

Following the visit to the classroom, we will have a special reception set up for our grandparents as an opportunity to meet and talk with some of our school leaders and other teachers and visit with one another before departing.

Grandparents’ Day Schedule

Space in our hallways and classrooms is limited, so we will only be able to accommodate grandparents who come at the times indicated for the grade level of their grandchild(ren). Grandparents who would like to visit students in multiple grade levels will need to come to school separately during each scheduled window. We know this presents an inconvenience, but are grateful for your understanding as we attempt to open our school building to as many grandparents as possible. We will not be able to accommodate grandparents who come outside the specified times.

8-9am 1st Grade
9-10am Kindergarten
10:30-11:30am 3rd Grade
11:25am-12:25pm 5th Grade
12:15-1:15pm 2nd Grade

Signing In

For the safety of our teachers and students, all visitors to our school building are required to be signed in at the front desk. Please be sure to bring a valid photo ID with you to Grandparents’ Day so that we are able to sign you into our system and provide you a visitor’s badge during your visit. Grandparents without a valid photo ID will not be able to attend Grandparents’ Day.

RSVP

To help us get an idea of how many of our much-loved grandparents we can expect to welcome to school, we ask that those who plan to attend kindly take a moment to RSVP using this form.
